The Shadow Priest

Thursday, The Third Week of Advent

"Confidence in God"

All too often, I may find, that I can place my Trust in that which will Fail me, in other words in that which is other than My Beloved Lord and God.

While Contemplating the Holy Martyrs of Christendom, I realize that, though I may not be called upon to shed my blood for Christ, That is the very Disposition I Must Seek in my Spiritual Life.

I Have to ask myself, "Am I Willing, and Ready to Lay down my Life for my Beloved Lord and Savior?" If I hesitate, I then must Question The Profundity of my Fidelity to His Divine Word.

Since talk is cheap, The Only way that I can determine The Truth, within myself, is by Way of The "Little Things" that I Encounter each and every day of my life upon this Earth.

I must look to the Holy Family, where we find, The Complete Acceptance of The Will of God by Mary, The Humble Embrace of The Revealed Word of God, in a Dream on the Part of St Joseph, and The Complete Self Giving To The Father, by His Only Begotten Son. And all the while immersed in the greatest Poverty.

All of which make up the Perfect Example of those Dispositions that Move the Christian Soul to An actual "Desire" to Offer ones Very Life in The Service of Authentic and Unselfish Love.

Oh, that I had The Holy and Selfless Dispositions of The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, The Determination and Dedication of St Joseph, and The Unconditional Love of Jesus, all from whom was Never spoken a word of Complaint or even of any Worldly Desire, but Rather, each one offers to The Faithfull Soul the Perfect Example of Martyrdom, both that of The Shedding of Blood, as well as those, Who by the Grace of God, will bear the palm of Martyrdom, even without the shedding of their blood.

May we all be Graced with either One or the Other.

God Bless You
